My husband loves to watch TV programs about past wars. At one time, he had considered becoming a history teacher, and he is still fascinated by history and often watches the History Channel.
Of course, that entails many videos of wars, soldiers, combat and many statistics.
Recently, I was reading nearby when he was watching a video about the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. I glanced up when they were discussing a war with the Huns, and they stated that there were 20,000 dead Romans.
That certainly caught my attention – 20,000 dead Romans? Who in the world counted them all?
I think that when you’re counting, once you reach 1,000 it’s a real pain in the neck. Patiently you say, “One thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three, etc. etc.”
