Detroit — Students and faculty who disagreed with some of former Wayne State University President Kimberly Andrews Espy's decisions are hoping the university's next president will be a long-term leader who can bridge the gaps between the university and the majority-Black city.
Espy resigned this past week for "personal reasons" after two years at the helm, the WSU Board of Governors told the university community. The decision came after The Detroit News first reported last week that the board planned to oust or let her resign following friction between herself, the board and the faculty.
