(NewsNation) — Country songwriter Brett James, who penned the hits “Jesus Take the Wheel” and “When the Sun Goes Down,” was among three people killed in a plane crash in Franklin, North Carolina, published reports say.
Macon County officials told WLOS that a single-engine airplane crash near an elementary school and no one on board survived. The FAA said three people were on board. One of the plane's occupants, according to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Thursday evening, was James, 57.
