ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Data center projects in the city of St. Louis aren’t going to be put on hold, but will have added requirements as they move through the permitting process.

On Thursday, Mayor Cara Spencer announced that the city will not move forward with a moratorium on data center projects, like the St. Charles project, which was put in place last month and will remain in effect for a year. It comes after a St. Louis Planning Commission meeting last week , where a moratorium was recommended.

There are already at least a dozen data centers in the city of St. Louis, and developers are presenting plans for more.

As was seen in St. Charles, these projects come with some significant community concerns.
