A 16-year-old girl died after a multi-vehicle accident in Bel Air on Thursday, officials said.

The girl was in the passenger seat of a car that was waiting to turn left when it was rear-ended. The impact of the crash caused the car to go into the other lane, at which time it was hit by a school bus, officials said.

A 17-year-old boy, the driver of the car, was flown to a trauma center after being extricated from the vehicle, officials said. Officials said he sustained significant injuries.

Officials said six students were taken to hospitals as a precaution.
