The City of Montreal released its progress report on measures taken as part of its Indigenous reconciliation strategy adopted five years ago.

From integrating Indigenous communities in its urban planning, renaming of spaces and installation of Indigenous artwork and supporting housing projects for Indigenous people, the City listed several achievements in a press release announcing the report.

“The City has reviewed its methods, adapted its practices, and mobilized its teams to make reconciliation a cross-cutting priority. The strategy’s 125 actions, divided into seven areas of commitment, have led to changes in services to the public, internal policies, and partnerships with Indigenous communities,” the statement said.
