A Coles receipt from 20 years ago found discarded in a bag at an op shop stunned shoppers struggling with the cost of living .

Shared in a TikTok post by @racheltuesday_ the receipt is from a grocery shop on January 8 in 2005 at the Wallsend store.

"Take me back pls," Rachel captioned the post, a sentiment shared by others who saw the receipt.

The total spend for 33 items was $77.07, and while an equivalent total for today's prices is hard to work out given many items on the receipt are no longer available, a commenter speculated the cost should be around $130 today just from inflation.

One of the biggest shocks from looking at the receipt was that the most expensive item on it cost just $4.50.
