It’s been a rough start to the football season for Tanner Collett.

The Monroe senior missed most of training camp with a lingering hamstring injury from track and field season.

Then he banged up a shoulder in Week 2 against Dexter.

“He was limited to 30 plays in Game 1, only played a half a game in Game 2,” Monroe coach Kyle Reed said.

None of that has seemed to slow down the defending Monroe County Region tackles leader. Collett, who finished with 109 stops in 2024, is well on the way to eclipsing that total.

He is averaging 12.7 tackles per game with 38 in the first three games. That includes five for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also has an interception.

Collett’s tackle total is seven more than anyone else in the Region.
