At 18 years old, my dad had the opportunity to help with an appendix removal during his first year of medical training. He had spent months studying for the medical school admissions exams during his high school years, leaving just enough time for water polo practice, sleep and food.

He would spend the next few years training to become a urologist, and at 25 years old he began practicing medicine. A well respected physician at one of the best medical centers in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, he had a deep appreciation for the practice and for his patients.
