Thursday brought some clarity to the chaos that erupted on Wednesday in a rural section of York County.

What started with the report of officers being shot and a school district being locked down ended Wednesday evening with a short press conference announcing that three of them had died and another two were taken to Wellspan York Hospital.

The three were taken on a route later that night from the scene of the incident to the York County Prison, where the county coroner’s office is housed, in a procession that drew police and fire vehicles from several municipalities in central Pennsylvania.

Thursday provided sunlight and a chance to return to the scene of the incident, where dried blood splatters, discarded medical supplies and police tape could be seen littering Haar Road in N
