EAST LIVERPOOL A condemned home in East Liverpool that was boarded up earlier in September will remain boarded up after the homeowner did not show up to court for a scheduled hearing.

A hearing scheduled for Thursday afternoon to determine whether to grant a permanent injunction to keep a home on the 700 block of Sophia Street boarded up resulted in another being scheduled after the homeowner did not show up.

Court records show another hearing was scheduled for October 16 at 1 p.m.

The original hearing was set after East Liverpool officials boarded up the house and declared it a nuisance. Housing Director Amy Grossen told 21 News the house had been boarded up before, but people kept breaking in.

The house has since been boarded up with padlocks to prevent further break-ins.
