Hundreds of people turned out in memory of a 'beautiful' Thornaby toddler allegedly murdered last Saturday. Around 200 people took part in a candlelit vigil in Hartington Close on Thursday evening.
Residents cried and hugged each other, while scores of flowers, teddy bears and balloons were laid. A balloon release and gathering for prayers have also been organised following the alleged murder of the little girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Cleveland Police officers were called to Hartington Close following a report of concerns for the welfare of a child. The two-year-old was taken to hospital and later died.
A man and woman have been charged with murder and appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Friday. Heather Mason, who organised the event and shared details on Facebook, said:
