Fox News Channel’s anchor Martha MacCallum triggered President Donald Trump when she confronted him on her show Thursday about criticism of him and his administration's "assault on free speech" following the aftermath of the killing of conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk, writes Mediaite.

Kirk's murder has led Trump and his cabinet to attack anyone they deem as celebrating or mocking it.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has threatened to target anyone who uses what she deems as "hate speech" in the wake of Kirk's death and Trump has taken a victory lap over the firing of ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel for his comments about the slaying.

The president has also focused his ire at the non-existent "Antifa," declaring the portmanteau for those who consider themselves anti fascists as a terror organization.

When MacCallum confronted Trump about this, asking, "You said millions and millions of dollars going towards some of these groups for agitation the other day. They’re agitators. Who are they? And where is the money coming from? Is it foreign entities?" he replied with what Mediate called a "jaw-dropping", "stunning quip."

"Yeah, you’re gonna find out and we’re gonna find out in great detail and it surprised me that Biden wouldn’t have done it because it really became hot over the last three four years," Trump said.

"It surprised me that Biden, wouldn’t do it, but then as I got to know him. First of all he didn’t call the shots he wasn’t on the shots but as we got to see what was happening in Biden’s group Antifa plays perfectly for them," he continued. "You know absolutely perfectly. But it’s a terrorist organization in my opinion and we’re going to find out all those questions are going to be answered."

After MacCallum followed up with, "Charlie said, you know, that there was no such thing as hate speech. He obviously– you know no one anticipated what would happen to Charlie," Trump replied, "Yeah–. He might not be saying that now!"

MacCallum then interjected with, "But you have always been in favor of free speech. So do you have concerns about–.You know some people look at this, and your critics will say, well–. This crackdown is a crackdown on free speech."

Deflecting, Trump retorted, "You know, it’s interesting. I watch your show and I watch others and I see people saying things. They’re crazy."
