Crews have suspended the search for a person who went missing in the Quinnipiac River in New Haven late Thursday.
Emergency crews responded to a portion of the river off of Middletown Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. after receiving the report that someone was in the water in distress, according to the New Haven Fire Department .
The department deployed two boats to search the area with sonar, fire officials said. The New Haven Police Department used a drone to assist in the search, according to fire officials.
Because of the direction of the flowing currents, the North Haven Fire Department also deployed a boat to help in the search.
Fire officials said the extensive search of the area was called off late Thursday and resumed around 4 a.m. during low tide. As of about 7:30 a.m., crew
