Netflix's upcoming period drama , The Age of Innocence, is set to feature a star-studded cast.

Based on Edith Wharton's novel , the series is described as a "delicious portrait of forbidden love and lust in Gilded Age New York society."

The plot revolves around a scandalous love triangle involving gentleman Newland Archer, his fiancée May Welland, and her newly-divorced cousin Ellen Olenska.

Wharton made history with this book, becoming the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

Now, over a century after its initial publication in 1920, writer Emma Frost and director Shannon Murphy are bringing the story to our screens, reports the Mirror .
