A former prison worker has avoided an immediate jail sentence over a relationship she had with a convicted drug dealer.

Megan Breen met the prisoner's family and would see him during home visits, a court heard.

The pair even stayed at a hotel together to celebrate her 20th birthday.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that Breen, who is now 23, had worked as an operational support grade worker at HMP Prescoed in Gwent, Wales.

She met the unnamed inmate while working night shifts and arranged to meet him while he was on home leave in the Merseyside area preparing for release.
