Peoria apartment fire causes $100K damage and sends a firefighter to the hospital

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to the area of N. Kingston Drive and W. Granada Court Thursday night for an apartment fire.

Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says when crews arrived around 10:10 p.m., they found fire coming from a bedroom window on the second floor. Flames also extended to the back of the building from the ground to the roof.

Firefighters’ quick action prevented the fire from spreading to the other apartments. The building sustained fire damage on the rear deck, siding, roof and an upstairs bedroom. The unit where the fire began had smoke and water damage throughout the apartment.

Two people were in the apartment at the time of the fire. They were able to get out safely as crews arrived. A thorough search of the building confirmed no other residents were
