Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast throughout Michigan for today, and this weekend, Sept. 20-21, the National Weather Service says.

Storms will start Friday, Sept. 19, in the western UP, but will spread southward over the weekend. Rain was developing in the western portion of the UP Friday morning.

"Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms today (Sept. 19) across western Upper Michigan," The National Weather Service in Marquette said on X. "Off and on showers and thunderstorms will then continue UP-wide Saturday (Sept. 20) through early next week."

On Saturday, Sept. 20, rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop around mid-Michigan, southwest and northern Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula. On Sunday, Sept. 21, rain will continue, including Detroit.
