MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. (KMOT) - Minot Air Force Base is replacing its Humvees and BearCat vehicles with brand new Ford trucks for patrol that have reinforced armor.

According to the base, the transition will take place over the next two years, and the first shipment arrived this month.

Both the Humvee and BearCat vehicles operate in rough terrain and have proven reliable for emergency response.

But the base said over the years, it’s been harder to maintain the vehicles, reducing overall safety.

These Ford F-350 patrol trucks have more space for passengers, are safer, and parts are cheaper.
