WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Warren County Fire Department System is taking another step forward to protect the community.

On Thursday, the department stated on social media that it is working alongside Medical Center EMS leadership, the county medical director and department leadership to finalize the purchase of EpiPens.

The department says it will use the EpiPens for training and distribute them throughout its fire department system.

EpiPens provide a life-saving dose of epinephrine during a severe allergic reaction, otherwise known as anaphylaxis.

EpiPens open the airways to make breathing easier, raise blood pressure to prevent dangerous drops and reduce swelling and hives, officials say.

The use of an EpiPen can mean the difference in some cases between life and death.
