MIXED messaging over PFAS testing is causing confusion among New England communities affected by the "forever chemicals".
A parliamentary inquiry's recommendation that blood testing be available for people living in affected areas contradicts official NSW Government guidelines.
The inquiry's recommendation has caused confusion and sparked anger from Gwydir and Narrabri mayors.
"PFAS are in everything, so blood testing isn't accurate and not covered by Medicare; it costs $570 for a blood test," Gwydir Shire Mayor Tiffany Galvin said on Thursday, September 18.
