STATEWIDE -- Mammograms are recommended for most women beginning at age 40, and in an effort to improve access to breast cancer screenings, Northern Light Health's mobile mammography unit will be visiting 8 communities across the state between now and mid-November.

For the month of September, the mobile unit will be in Dover-Foxcroft on Saturday the 20th from 8 a.m. to noon, and in Greenville on the 25th.

Northern Light Health says the mobile mammography offers the same experience as a medical office, and pre-scheduled and walk-in screenings will be offered during the units 17 scheduled events.

The mobile unit provides mammograms for routine screening only. The health organization says one year and one day must have passed since the patient's last screening.
