Police have arrested two men in connection with the lighting of six grass fires in West Kelowna.
“Intentionally setting fires creates a significant risk to our community and first responders,” West Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Devon Gerrits said in a release. “We want the public to know we are actively investigating these incidents and remain committed to holding those responsible accountable.”
Firefighters and police were called to the corner of Carrington Road and Gellatly Road on Tuesday morning. A 36-year-old man was arrested and admitted lighting the fire, per the release.
Charges of mischief causing damage of under $5,000 are being forwarded by police to the BC Prosecution Service for consideration.
