CINCINNATI (AP) — While the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coaching staff moves forward with quarterback Jake Browning following Joe Burrow’s toe injury , the defensive staff is focusing on what they need to do better on that side of the ball on third downs.
“I think I have to personally do a better job on third down,” defensive coordinator Al Golden said. “That begins and ends with me. I have to put our guys in a better position to be successful. It’s always the marriage of rush and coverage. It’s not just the rush, it’s not just the coverage. That lies at my feet. I have to do a better job with the plan and getting some free hitters. It just hasn’t been good enough.”
Despite a 31-27 win over Jacksonville last Sunday to move to 2-0 for the first time since 2018, the Bengals allowed
