The Coachella Valley was drenched with rain off and on Thursday as the remnants of a tropical storm moved through Southern California, bringing more than a half-inch of rain to some areas.
Around 4:15 p.m., a major deluge hit areas of the mid-Coachella Valley, including quarter- to half-inch sized hail. A new severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for much of the valley until 5:30 p.m., and an airport weather warning was in effect for Palm Springs International Airport for cloud to ground lightning from until 9:15 p.m.
