UK and Irish governments agree on Troubles legacy deal

For decades, families who lost loved ones in the Northern Ireland Troubles have been waiting for justice.

Now the British and Irish governments have unveiled a new framework for how those killings should be investigated.

It follows years of deadlock over the toxic legacy of the conflict.

Calling it the “unfinished business of the Good Friday Agreement”, Northern Ireland Secretary Hilary Benn said he hoped a route to closure was within their grasp.
