WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is poised to fire the acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia after the prosecutor refused to bring federal charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James , multiple sources told CBS News.

Erik Siebert, who has served as the top federal prosecutor since January, has been told to resign or face termination, according to the Associated Press . The standoff centers on Siebert's refusal to prosecute James for alleged mortgage fraud.
