A 22-year-old Messiah University student has been identified by the Cumberland County Coroner’s Office as the pedestrian that was killed on Friday morning near Messiah University’s South Gate.
Brendan Heisey of Elizabethtown was struck by a train while walking on the railroad tracks in the 400 Block of Grantham Road in Upper Allen Township, according to the coroner’s office.
The incident took place on a railroad track near Grantham Road overpass (not at a public grade crossing), accordingto Norfolk Southern.
The train was headed northbound, according to Norfolk Southern.
The coroner’s office said he suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
