Mackinac Island — Michigan Republicans voted Friday to hold an early endorsement convention on March 28 to select the party's candidates for attorney general, secretary of state, state Supreme Court and seats on education boards.
Traditionally, the Michigan GOP waited until August to choose nominees for those offices, but the party changed course in 2022 to counter early endorsements given by Democrats, which were perceived as having provided Democratic candidates a headstart on the November election in 2018 .
