ST. LOUIS — The death of Timothy Anderson, 71, of St. Louis, was ruled a homicide this week by the city medical examiner's office, police said Friday.
Anderson died April 17 from injuries from an incident in the Hyde Park neighborhood last fall, police said. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and spinal area, police said.
Police said the incident occurred Nov. 7 in the 4100 block of North 22nd Street. A 54-year-old man turned himself in five days later but police said the circuit attorney's office declined to issue second-degree assault charges then.
Police initially said the victim was unable to provide a statement.
A homicide investigation is now underway.
