TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray Florida Capital Bureau) - Floridians are frustrated with how high property taxes are going, and now state lawmakers are taking another look. A House committee will spend two days in Tallahassee next week examining how property taxes are collected and used at the local level.

The House Property Tax Select Committee is set to meet on Monday to hear presentations on how local dollars fund essential services, including schools and rural communities.

“You want to talk about the free state of Florida, this is it,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a news conference Wednesday.
