A truck driver has been charged after a fatal highway crash.

Emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, about 15 kilometres south of Moree, after reports of a two-vehicle crash about 7.30pm on Thursday, September 18.

When officers attached to the New England Police District arrived, they found that a truck and a car had collided.

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old woman, died at the scene.

The 24-year-old truck driver was uninjured and was taken to Moree Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, together with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
