LOUISA, Va. (WWBT) - Feb. 3, 2025, is a day Jenn Ford remembers well. She said she was between two thirty-six-hour shifts working with the Delta Response team, an ambulance service.

“I was asleep and then my friend, Eric Porter, from Medic One, said there was a cardiac arrest in my subdivision and that the closest unit, Medic Five, was already out on a call in Spotsylvania,” Ford said.

She said she quickly got to her neighbor Randy Reicher’s house, where a deputy from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office was performing CPR.

“I identified myself and said ‘Hey I am EMS, move, go grab your AED.’ And he said, ‘I don’t have an AED.’ And I said, ‘What? What do you mean you don’t have an AED?” Ford recalled.
