ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis County man was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison Friday for his role in a fatal street racing crash in 2022.

Jaron Sims, 37, was found guilty by a jury in July of this year of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.

Those charges stemmed from a crash on July 8, 2022. The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office said evidence presented at the trail showed Sims was street racing with another person in the St. Louis Avenue in the St. Louis Place neighborhood.

Prosecutors said Sims ran a red light, running into a vehicle. 60-year-old Adrianne Holloway was critically injured and died days later. A two-year-old child was also seriously injured in the crash.
