VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)-Ville Platte is making significant strides in economic development by upgrading city parks and attracting new businesses.
Ville Platte Mayor Ryan Leday Williams said the improvements are part of a broader initiative to boost the local economy and provide better amenities for residents. With help from state legislators, the city has secured over $1.5 million to go towards improving and adding infrastructure.
"We had approximately two million dollars from the state that had been allocated to the city I think since like 17 or 18, and being that we're a couple of years in, I didn't want to lose that funding," Williams said.
New playground equipment and splash pads were installed at three parks, with new benches and pavilions added at Heritage Garden Park.
