DENVER (KDVR) -- A man was sentenced to 32 years in prison this week in a sexual assault case out of Denver that went cold for 18 years.
Jason Groshart, 52, pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of kidnapping and one count of attempted sexual assault for the incident, which happened on March 30, 2004.
The victim told detectives that a man dressed in black with gloves and a face mask broke into her home, put her in handcuffs and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint, according to an arrest affidavit. He then made her shower and gathered the bed sheets in a trash bag, and took away that evidence. The victim was able to gather some fluid evidence of the suspect and provided her robe to detectives.
The Denver Police Department reopened the case for a follow-up investigation in March 20
