MCCORMICK COUNTY, S.C. — A man already serving a lengthy sentence for the deadly shooting of a South Carolina college instructor will now spend even more time in prison after throwing fecal matter on a corrections officer, officials say.
The South Carolina Department of Corrections said 35-year-old Donald Harper Jr. of Richland County was already serving 25 years in prison for the killing of a Benedict College instructor following a 2015 conviction.
He'll now spend an additional 15 years in prison after investigators said he threw a cup of diarrhea on a corrections officer who was bringing him food at McCormick Correctional Institution in January 2025. Authorities said the officer had to receive medical treatment and monitoring for possible infectious diseases after the incident.
