KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two Tonganoxie women have been sentenced in connection with animal cruelty charges.
On Sept. 19, 2025, Jessica L. Fleer, 35, and Amanda E. Fleer, 42, both of Tonganoxie, were sentenced in Leavenworth County District Court.
Court records say that in October 2024, a black poodle was found in the middle of Tonganoxie Drive, near 199th Street, by two people.
They took the dog to a veterinarian for treatment. Court records say the poodle was severely malnourished, infested with fleas, and had matted fur.
A scan of the dog’s microchip revealed that Jessica and Amanda Fleer owned the dog.
On Aug. 15, Amanda Fleer pleaded no contest and was found guilty of cruelty to animals. On Aug. 22, Jessica Fleer also pleaded no contest and was found guilty.
