CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — The head of the state's utility regulator offered her resignation on Friday, capping a protracted drama that saw an unusual amount of controversy surround an agency that few in the public have ever heard of.

Marissa Gillett has led the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) since 2019. PURA is tasked with scrutinizing many of the costs that end up on ratepayers' electric, gas and water bills. Gillett and Gov. Ned Lamont announced that she would be leaving her post on October 10th.

A regulator in the spotlight
