Republican gubernatorial candidate Josh Schoemann said he wouldn't tolerate state or Washington County employees who "celebrate" slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk's death in social media posts and his decision to fire employees would depend on the severity of the opinions shared.
"Criticizing is one thing, but if you're leading with celebrating somebody being assassinated, that's where I draw the line," Schoemann, who is the Washington County Executive and was the first to launch his gubernatorial campaign, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "You have the First Amendment right of free speech, you do not have a right to a job. Your employer has the choice of how to handle those types of things."
The comments followed Schoemann's roundtable discussion with seven voters at O'D
