MACON, Ga. — A Macon mother is warning other families after her young son was diagnosed with severe lead poisoning, which she says came from the old rental home where they lived for four years.
Heaven Smith said her son, Enzo, was diagnosed in May after a routine checkup revealed dangerously high lead levels.
“They did a Venous test, and then came back levels of 15.4, which is four times the amount that it should be,” Smith said. “I was clueless to it. I had no idea the signs of chipping paint. I just thought they used some cheap paint on the house."
Smith said she had no idea the home, built in 1926, was filled with lead paint until her son’s diagnosis.
