TAMA COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) — A Tama County woman has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her husband.

Karina Cooper was convicted of first-degree murder in July for killing her husband Ryan in a Traer home back in 2021. A judge delivered the sentence on Friday.

Karina Cooper was accused of conspiring to kill her husband with another man, Huston Danker , whom prosecutors said she was involved with romantically at the time.

During the proceedings, Ryan Cooper's sister-in-law, Heather Cooper, shared the impact of the tragedy on her family.

"I watched my husband live in fear those first few nights, unable to sleep in our home," Heather Cooper said. "Being first on the scene left images in his head, and he was unable to sleep."
