MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (KFOR) — A special surprise homecoming for a first grader. His mother, who serves in the army, is finally back home and surprised her son at school on Friday morning.

It's a moment that first grader, Kyslan Washington, never expected when he got to school on Friday.

A student of the month assembly turned into a big moment of joy when his mom, Private Serrace Watts, surprised him.

Watts has been away for six months in Army training and only got to talk to her son on the phone.

"The beginning was only every Sunday. And then it became every...every day. And then two or three times a day," said Serrace Warrs, an Army Private.

Their first hug after reuniting is something she'll never forget.

"Unreal, like, unreal. I missed him....I missed him," said Watts.
