GRAY, Ga. — Jones County officials have approved new zoning ordinances that could clear the path for a data center development, joining a growing list of Central Georgia counties positioning themselves for major tech infrastructure projects.

The move comes as technology companies increasingly look to the region for data center locations. This week alone, Twiggs County approved a $5 billion data center project, while Monroe County has seen mixed results — approving one site last year before rejecting another proposal last summer .
