STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he was shot twice in West Brighton on Friday evening, according to a spokesperson for the NYPD.
The shooting took place at 6:49 p.m. on Alaska Street, the spokesperson told the Advance/SILive.com.
Police said the victim was shot once in the right leg and once in the abdomen. He was removed to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton in stable condition.
Authorities are searching for a male suspect who fled on a “black, two-wheeled device” toward Richmond Terrace, the spokesperson with the NYPD said.
In the wake of the shooting, police taped off Alaska Street at the intersection with Henderson Avenue and the intersection with Wayne Street.
