Missouri football has suffered a significant setback on the night before its SEC opener.
Starting left tackle Cayden Green has been ruled out of t he Tigers’ game against South Carolina on Saturday night in Columbia, Missouri, according to the SEC-mandated availability report that Mizzou published Friday night.
Green was downgraded from “probable” on the Thursday report to officially “out” on Friday. It was immediately unclear why Green would be unavailable to play.
The Tigers will now likely have to turn to Jayven Richardson, who is listed as the backup on the Mizzou depth chart. He was viewed as the frontrunner to win the left tackle job in the offseason, before the Tigers opted to move Green from left guard to left tackle in the middle of fall camp.
