COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina realtors say they are still seeing median home prices below the national average.

Local realtor Karen Yip says home prices locally are still below the national average.

“Particularly in the Midlands, just in the last five years alone, we have seen a 49% increase in the median sales price," Yip said.

If you're looking to buy, Yip says there are some hidden gems to be found in Columbia’s southeast corridor, around Leesburg Road, Garners Ferry Road, and out to Hopkins and Eastover.

That falls on 8 and 9 of this map which realtors use to zone the Midlands area.

“The average median sales price year-to-date for that area is $243,000, which is actually below the median price of $275,000, so that is a great corridor to look at," Yip said.
