HIGH RIDGE, Mo. - A 15-year-old boy was rescued alive but badly burned from a mobile home fire in Byrnes Mill early Friday morning.
The fire, which started in the boy's bedroom, was reported at 3:12 AM, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene.
Smoke detectors alerted the family, allowing two adults and three children to escape before emergency crews arrived.
"I was woken out of my sleep by sirens," said Jesse, a neighbor, who noted that such incidents are rare in the mobile home park.
Investigators confirmed that the fire was set, but no foul play is suspected.
Evidence suggests the teen may have attempted to extinguish the fire himself.
Fire officials emphasize the importance of reviewing fire safety and maintaining working smoke detectors, which likely prevented further tragedy
