ORLANDO, Fla. – A five-vehicle crash along Florida’s Turnpike on Friday evening in Orlando left a trooper and driver in the hospital, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, investigators said the crash happened around 5:26 p.m. in the northbound lanes near State Road 417.

At the time, a semitruck with a trailer was headed south on the highway, but while changing lanes, it sideswiped another car, the release shows.

Investigators explained that this caused a chain reaction, where a car behind these two vehicles swerved, struck the other car, and went across the highway, overturning and colliding with the top of a parked FHP patrol vehicle.
