Despite six veterans away at NHL training camps, the Windsor Spitfires burst out of the gate to start the OHL season with an 8-1 road win over the Sarnia Sting on Friday. Article content Article content
“I don’t think you expect that, but I knew how well they’ve been coming together and understanding how we do things,” Spitfires’ head coach Greg Walters said. “You saw the skill set of these players. It was fun to watch.”
It is the best offensive showing for the club since a season-opening 9-6 win over the Peterborough Petes in 2019 and the most lopsided victory to start the season since a 10-3 win over the Erie Otters to kickoff the 2007-08 season.
